I started two years ago exploring and researching circuses, fair grounds, outside entertainment spaces, the acts and the people who through history have captivated audiences throughout time. Linking these places and people and their achievements to society today. This piece highlighted the incredible Ivan Firtsak, the famous Circus performer, Athlete, Boxer, Free style Boxer and Wrestler (stage name 'Ivan Syla' - strong Ivan) Born 1899 to a humble family in the Ukraine. He was known for his strength and ripping chains apart in his acts. His perseverance and resilience was captivating, he even went on to perform for Queen Victoria and had great pride for his pepole and homeland and is celebrated today.
The message of Freedom, Strength, Resilience, and Hope and that anything is possible encapsulated in this print.
